Fees. Placement Interviews. Bureaucratic machinery we don't have much to do with, otherwise. You should perhaps ask the Council and the Committees.

Thanks to some obtusely upright professors this shortest distance gains so much significance. This alone made it worthwhile to live in the slums. It gave you ten more minutes of the most blissful moments in a hostelite's life - the warmth of the bed on a winter morning. Also, if you are facing an uninspiring class (sahay et al) the short distance ensures your sleep is not unduely disturbed. On arriving at the last benches you can effortlessly slip back into the sleep you had left behind and resume your favorite fantasies.

  • Mess, MaheshC. (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
True: Great Breakfast indeed. Better than what's served in most messes across the country. The usual fare is eggs in all forms - boiled, scrambled, as omlettes, as 'bull's eyes', milky tea, corn flakes, milk (hot and cold). The add-ons that vary throughtout the week are pooris, idlis (or attempts thereof), jelabis (if you are in early), upuma, kesari etc. The next best thing is the night mess. This is because most of it is junk food but served hot and without much delay. It is also to do with the expansive mood only a night with light hours shall bring. Another addition that is strictly not a mess-fare but deserves a mention are the barbeques. It is cooked by the chefs from the mess on hostel terraces and spices the hostel parties. Into our mouths from the flames and without much delay inbetween, they are usually better than the fare from Southern Spice.
